Vizio D65u-D2 VIVID Setting = LED Shutdown

Have a Vizio D65u-D2.. Works great as long as VIVID or VIVID-esque settings are not used..

If VIVID is used, the LEDs shutdown after a couple minutes...

Is this indicative of a bad LED strip(s) or a problem with the Main Board??

You have to specify a little better what happens when it shuts down. Like does it still play audio just the back light turn off, or does everything just turn off?
So monitor PSon and BLon with your DMM and see what happens.

If the back lights just turn off on vivid, you can probably do the same in any other mode. You just have to crank up the back lights full tilt and wait. LED's can fail while they are stressed under full load, but still work fine when the power is reduced. May be a bit tricky to find, but worth to look at it.

Yer right, I should have been more specific... Apologies..

Yea, it's just the backlights that go out... I still have picture and sound... And you're also right, it's not just the VIVID setting. Any setting (GAME, COMPUTER, ETC) where the display is notably brighter, it happens.. This indicates an LED Strip issue...

Another curious thing is that the power LED won't stay on, even though it's set in the menu to stay on all the time that the TV is on..

That would seem to me to indicate a Main Board fault..

I won't be able to get it on my bench until Tue..

      Thanx for the input....

No I did not.. I explained to the customer he would have to keep the setting away from VIVID and he said that was good enough..

But I am still convinced that replacing a bad LED Strip would fix the issue..
