Mini Cooler Foshan Hanyi/Hanny Fuse Blows

Just picked up this mini cooler (acts as like a can dispenser) more or less identical to this but it's a copy similar to this http://www.amazon.com/Kalorik-MCL-36.../dp/B005QCA5U2

Anyway I picked it up for £1 not working, have since took it apart to see what was up and it looked like the internal fuse has blown. Tested another fuse and it blew right away the same way.

Now there seem to be 2 bulging caps 100uf 200v, are these the cause of the fuse blowing?

Can't find a model number on the board, it's made by Foshan Hanyi/Hanny

Power supply is exactly the same as this one http://ccne.mofcom.gov.cn/482609 at the top of the page, best picture I can find, have taken some myself but it's awkward atm as it's still attatched to the plastics.

Heres a video of it in action https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_HIp...youtu.be&t=16s

Beside the bad caps, you should check the bridge rectifier, the two power devices mounted on the two small heat sinks to see if they are damaged or not. The two bad caps are part of the bridge drive circuit for driving the power transformer.

Those use 4x 1N4004/7s, which are marginal. I've always upgraded them.

It may be obvious, but the switchers are not isolated from their heatsinks.

Also check the schottkey on the secondary side, as well as the FR4007(?) just near the output cap, which, incidentally, should be replaced.

Try go bigger with the input caps too. Maybe 150u instead of 100u. Use 4x 2A07 or equivalent for the input rectifiers.

Those boards can be set to double, or rectify the AC line.

His is set up like a PC power supply with the "volt select" switch in the "230" position.

That jumper for using it w/ 120 is not present; both 200V caps are in series, but without that jumper from their center point to one side of the AC line.

Both caps will only see ~163V each.
