Was it important to recap this otherwise a still good-working psu?
It is very subjective (to me). This recapping was done when i was learning the PSU recapping in my beginning time. I blindly recapped all the caps to the smallest ones.
But this is my conclusion now:- the big primary caps (teapo lxk 680uF 200V) don't need to be replaced. the only reason they should be replaced will be for upgrading the capacitance. (i forgot to use my 820uF chemicon KMH though, the 680uf ones is used instead.)
- no caps were bulging, but there's nothing wrong with recapping the Jamicon TM and Teapo SEK caps (output filter), if it's not japanesse caps i can't be sure it will last long. 2-3 years are probably okay with taiwan/chinese caps but not 5 years.
- original fan was replaced with Adda brand (brushless). should be using the ball bearing ones (i forgot )
- all tinny caps was replaced. i want to be sure that the lytics wont be the first to fail in this psu. can't be 100% sure though.
- it don't even cost me $8 for replacement parts. it's a mere hobby project, desired to gain some skills and knowledge in recapping. thank good this psu wasn't filled with fuhjyyu caps like the others fortron 300W.
- powering an prescott 2.8ghz system (been 4-5 month) is okay (only 11A on 12v? ). don't underestimate a good 300W psu!

I know I've been a little scarce lately (like the last 2-3 years), but I'm still here and still doing my thing with fixing PSUs.

I have here a Magnum IA.100 which belongs to my parents.
The unit powers on & when the relay kicks in, you get a pop from the speakers (this might sound weird but is usual behavior for this amp). However, you get nothing coming through it from any of the inputs & no pops and crackls from any of the controls.
Because of the sound from the speaker when the amp turns on I have assumed that the output section probably works but I could be wrong & I'm not sure how to test that side of things further.

Hi Guys,
I need to replace the dual rail power supply in this unit (board damaged irreparably - by me!).
I have the schematic (attached) - but it does not (unhelpfully) show the value of the Pos and Neg rails.
Someone has suggested possibly + and - 42V, but as the smoothing caps are only rated at 50V this could be a bit close to the mark.
I am hoping Alxxxxpress might be able to come to the rescue and I am thinking somewhere in the 32V 8A region? Any suggestions/observations would be welcomed.

Recently I gave a shot at recapping this Excellent power IT ATX 300 lc clone doohickey PSU. After I replaced all bulging caps and the 47uF 50v in 5vsb I turned it on. 5vsb and ps_on are spot on. So I shorted the ps_on and it dies after a split second. 5vsb still is generating, all other lines also generate voltage for a while but they all discharge so fast.
Now I am sure this isn't a problem with the 5vsb damaging the PWM IC or BJT circuit, but I have no idea where to go next. Maybe replacing all the smaller caps? -
Copying DMI information from an old bios to a new one is difficult for some members, often they have no experience with a hex editor,or some that have tried find it too hard.There is an option to make things easier for those members so that they don`t need to post their own bios backup for the DMI copying.
Experienced bios modding members can help by posting in other threads the DMI offsets,macro script generated by the software and a download link to the software at softpedia mentioned in this guide,or post your macros in the comments here with a link to the bios request thread ....
