I think you'll be happy with the upgrade. Sure it's not the latest and greatest but should do the job well.

Yeah I tried the Crucial ballistix and that failed within the month.

As for the quality of corsair:

I had a corsair value ram 512mb ddr2 stick decide it was funny to make a trace flake off the pcb. that was my only stick of ddr2 at the time... POS!

yet i have 4 value ram 512mb ddr sticks that still work fine... odd...

what is odder is i have 4 apida 1gb ddr 3200 sticks that STILL work... granted i got them for free virtually new (one use in a dell that maxed with 512mb sticks)... point: some ram is good; some ain't; all i know is the prices suck right now.

Yup 4GB of RAM will run about as much as the combo.

If you planing on keeping it for several years I would get 3.
        - Her's, yours, and a ready-spare.

Test the spare then re-box it.

I have a ready-spares for anything I run, especially with all the lightning storms here during monsoon season.
Standardizing the build reduces how many spares I need around.

Oh and, don't worry about what 'the Jone's' are up to.

If it's an upgrade for you then it's an upgrade.

That's all that matters as long as it gets the job done.

I just finished helping a friend with a laptop that was taking well over 5 minutes to boot.

I found that the primary ide channel was changed to PIO instead of direct DMA. Changing it to DMA reduced boot time to 1 minute and 50 seconds. See

              Re: Gigabyte GA-G41M-ES2L + Intel E7500

As of this writing, the E7500 is $44 more than the E6500.
              The only difference is 3mb L2 vs 2mb L2.
I have one of each, there is no seat of the pants difference in performance.

Been awhile since I posted in this thread... Corsair just sent me a bunch more RMA replacements for failed XMS and Dominator DDR2-800.

I am now officially at 99.9% failure rate.
Either all this memory is junk, or it hates every Gigabyte GA-P45-UD3x board in existence. The only board where it works well is my ABit IP35 Pro (P35).
