To the techs, what do you carry onsite, and in what

I find myself with my personal laptop, NVME -> USB-C adapter to test/retrieve data on SSDs connected to my laptop

    USB DVDRW

odd collection of bootable disks for diagnostics (I know some of you have been raving about a collection of these all-in-one tool DVD/CD's, never looked into those)

USB ethernet adapter (unfortunately requires drivers)

    USB Sata adapter

2TB HDD for backing data up

    Multi-bit screwdriver

Laptop toolkit with extensive bits, pry tools, etc, etc

    USB mouse

I use a good laptop bag with space for plenty of stuff. Been thinking about upgrading to a backpack

    any suggestions?

I have a Dell laptop bag, loads of pockets for stuff and expands when i have extra to carry. It has my laptop in it as well.
Bootable discs are quaint, USBs for me, apart from that I have similar stuff to you.

I mean yeah I do have USB's too. Usually for windows repair/install. I have a disc carrier with some old ones just in case it's an older OS or some bios has issues with booting off USB

It depends on what I'm doing that particular call. I installed a new 75" TV + wallmount for same on Monday....I needed a different set of tools for that.

Yeah I guess it does depend on the call, but I'm thinking laptop/desktop on call, with a number of possible problems. They say "it's doing this" and it ends up being interpreted as something else

I carry pretty much the same PC tools as you do, with minor variations....not so much bootable media. Mainly Hiren's stuff; win10 & XP versions....although the XP one doesn't get used much anymore.... It's always good to have a clonezilla bootable as well.

I always carry the usual hand tools for assembly or disassembly. I also have a couple cans of 'canned air'....

I pack it all around in either a sencore soft bag that used to have a (now obsolete) colorometer kit in it. Nice bag with pockets & shoulder strap....yea, looks like a big purse. If I need my mechanics's tools (like for the install Monday), I have another soft bag for those; again with a strap. It's a little bigger and rattier (for dirty hand tools and a drill).
