Re: Getting on the internet with windows XP

I have to use $OEM$ and a partial-automated setup for SATA drivers. So many desktops no longer have floppy drives for F6 driver installation, and laptops only have USB which is ignored entirely by the XP installer. I bought a nice Sony USB floppy drive, and the F6 installer totally ignores it.

I keep the Intel storage matrix drivers in $OEM$ with the appropriate settings in UNATTEND.TXT and it works great for me. Details available upon request.

I'll check the bios since norton (I keep as little of it running as I can and i'm fine) gave a clean bill of health to both drives both physically and data wise however I might try turning on S.M.A.R.T just to see if my drives are compatible.
With my DLT drive dead I don't have anyway to backup my 40 gig maxtor slimline that holds all my music.

      AAARG!
I accidentally shut the system down and she returned to not POSTing again!
Well, at least I now have the time to replace a bad cd-rw drive (it can't read) and upgrade to an athlon 2000. I can't wait to get more ram. When the system is idling, I have about 56 megs free. That too will explain some of the reason why my system is slow.
      Find Nedry!

      Check the Vending machines!!

bgavin; that can nowdays be done automatically by freeware applications Look into Balder Multiboot, it can also slipstream in hotfixes, not just service packs... So you can have a fully updated CD with IE7, and all Windows XP updates etc, plus all drivers and other shit you can find (note, I have never used it myself, only the $OEM$ method...)
