    System Stability Problem

This system will not pass Prime95 Torture Test:

BIOSTAR P4M80-M4 Socket 478 VIA P4M800 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
    Intel P4 Prescott 3.0GHz 1MB L2 Cache Socket 478
    Ultra 512MB PC3200 RAM

I changed the RAM to CORSAIR ValueSelect 512MB PC 3200, still would not pass Torture Test..

I changed to OCZ Platinum Edittion XTC 1GB PC 3200, and it did pass Torture Test.

I want to use either the Ultra or Corsair RAM.. I have a fan blowing on the RAM, as well as one in the rear blowing out... I have tried messing with the RAM timings to no avail... but perhaps I am doing something wrong... ? does anybody have any suggestions as to what to try? Here are the default RAM settings...

    2.65 Volts
    Bank Interleave: Disabled
    TRP: 2T
    TRAS: 2T
    TRCD: 5T
    TRFC: 25T
    TRRD: 3T
    TRTP: 3T
    TWTR: 2T
    TWR: 5T
    DRAM Command Rate: 2T Command
    RDSAIT Mode: Auto

    Thanks!

    Re: System Stability Problem

Those RAM settings appear too low for value RAM, try setting RAM to CAS 3-4-4-7 or incrementally increase it.

      Re: System Stability Problem

It looks like I left out that the default CAS Latency was indeed 3...
Sorry about the noobe question, but which of the settings I mentioned should I be changing to 4-4-7 or incrementally increasing?

I found this this tutorial: http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/26/2

according to it, I think I should be setting the timings like this: TRP=4, TRCD=4 and TRAS=7

Yeah you should try higher timings, those timings of 2-2-2-5 are very low, only the most rare and expensive RAM (such as the original top end Golden Emperor Dragon RAM with ram chips built into the PCB).

            Re: System Stability Problem

Sorry.. the original, default timings were 3-5-2-5... I made a couple of typos... it still cannot pass the "blend' test at the highest possible settings the board offers... oh well.

Corsair VS is usually 3-4-4-8 at least my 1GB VS do not like any tighter timings.
