I have two of these old CLI Eclipse 8100 systems that have really nice servo controlled cameras (which use RS-232 for control) and a big IR remote, and they both run great, but... They use ISDN to connect to each other, and they are far too old to support ethernet or even standard 56k dial-up.
Does anyone else on here have any experience with these? Apparently they are old government used systems that costed around $16K new.
They are 486SX/25 based, but have 6 or 7 custom full-length ISA boards for doing all the video work. I popped in a VGA card so I could see the bios, and it is using a custom bios that says "for testing purposes only" on the screen.
They appear to based on an embedded version of Windows 3.1. I really, really want to do something with these! The cameras are better than anything I've seen of this vintage. Power zoom and great focus, even up close.
What I would really like to do, is see if I can get the software to work on windows 95 or 98, so I can use ethernet cards for the connection. I would have to hack up the software a bit though to extract the drivers and other parts I need.
If anyone thinks they can help me figure these out, I'd be glad to hear. I can also post pics of the system if needed. I really hate to just toss these, but I can't find any info on them, other than the basic setup manual I have. Even if I could figure out how to use the cameras for something else, I'd be happy.
