I probably got turned off wireless mice back in the late 90's with my Z-NIX.
Here is this clunker of wireles mouse that is serial, has replaceable batteries and is infrared (yes, infrared). I could not leave the sight of the dock where the receiver was and the life of the battery was only eight hours and you needed to dock the mouse when not in use to keep it charged. Did I also say that the thing was bigger than the old macintosh mouse?
I love that wacom tablet and mouse willawake.

its too big. i was using it to make a 3d ship from plans

i might get a small one for the office sometime cos its nice to have a pen in photoshop. The good thing about the wireless keyboard though is that i can move it off the desk when i am just browsing. problem is i lose it a few times.....

the mouse and kbd batteries last for 6 months apparently. thats the reason for the low power. the logitech lithium battery idea is better.

in the end this wireless laser mouse is replaced with comfort optical mouse 3000 until i figure out some other replacement. the keyboard is still fine. the laser 6000 mouse develop shitty intermittent working clicking like one explorer 4 i had and it was too dangerous to admin with it. I had a look for logitech mice at the shops but they are pretty damn expensive even the wired ones (all gaming editions or notebook????)

the 3000 is ok its just too light. i wouldnt mind to open it and stick some lead in there......now if i could open the 6000 successfully and transplant some good clickers from old msft mouse that would be cool cos i like the weight and shape.

in the end this wireless kit is not recommended anyway.....msft is going downhill....before the explorer 4 i had not seen probs. even kbds and mice in the office all shiny in places from use cos so old. bring back those damn oem kits!!!!

You like yours? Got one for Christmas actually. I agree, it's a bit light, but it's been good aside from that. I use XP, and didn't install the drivers - took me a couple days to get used to the side-scroll wheel, I was clicking it from an angle on my old Logitech mouse and I kept clicking it to one side instead of down for a center click. Love the motion of the wheel itself, though, now that it's nicely loosened up.

And yeah, I agree - my previous Msft mouse, a Wheel Mouse Optical, died an early death from being tossed across a desk. Meanwhile, I've got at least one PS/2 classic ball mouse (three button, with a wheel) that's still going strong after eight years or so. Sad fact is, most people get new mice and keyboards when they get new computers. Those of us that don't are forced to anyway when the old ones can't take any abuse.

Maybe I'll try opening this one up. Newer Msft mice ain't easy to open though. The old ones might have been the same way - I never had to, though!

actually wired mouse is ok, i just need wireless keyboard to make space for the drinks
