Hello, I stumbled on this forum looking for pictures of poly fuses. Recently, two of my USB ports that stopped working after a 'voltage spike' (power surge) hit my motherboard.
I am 100% sure that my problem is hardware related as the ports do not detect anything in the bios and I already tried to reset CMOS and uninstalled the drivers.
The voltage spike itself was induced by turning on an external USB HDD (with external power). Right after that 2 USB ports on my motherboard are not able to detect anything beginning from BIOS.
All other USB ports are working fine.
When I measure the voltage on the dead ports, both still have +5V coming out.
What I am expecting is that either the usb controller is blown, USB went in protection with the fuse or a mosfet is blown.
So my first question is if a poly fuse is blown, can you still measure voltage from those USB ports?
Second, am I on the right track to find the problem?

The actual ports broken are in the RF shield, it is the top one one the right above the audio sockets and under the audio sockets also on the right.
