Can new caps have slightly bulging tops?

Hello, I just came from an electronics store...bought some new caps for a Epox 8RDA+ mobo......some of the smaller caps I bought, [1000mF/6.3V] don't have entirely flat tops, but the leads are ok and the capacitors don't seem to have been used...I wouldn't want to put them on just to have them taken off again...

    A pic would help
Some caps can have uneven tops, not bulging but not flat, it's kinda hard to explain. Just look at some Sanyo caps to see what I mean.

thanks..I appreciate it the tops of 3 caps seem a very tiny bit swollen[or maybe I'm paranoid]...the bulgers I've seen were like mellons)..and another thing. Should I use'em if the casing is a bit deformed?[I'm guessing there might be some pressure inside] Two of them seem to have been poorly handled..They were cheap so I don't expect a lot of quality on the inside maybe I should just buy 5 more..no pics..I forgot my camera @ home

Frankly, I (myself) wouldn't bother installing any caps at all that were questionable in my mind. This type of thing could come around again in the future and bite you, better to do it right once and forget about it. I recently redid a psu that had completely vented caps...from just sitting around in my room for a few years (although they were Jun Fu's...). The caps didn't all of a sudden decide to completely bloat one day, it was a gradual process, one that the caps you got cheap may already be going through, potentially due to improper storage or something else.
As far as deformities/dents, I wouldn't bother using them, but I'm sure someone else will have something better to say about this.

Any info on the make/series of the caps you bought?

          Good question.

Your MOBO Epox 8RDA+ seems to be a little bit old so probably you can use average good caps.
In this post made by PCBONEZ you can read what I mean.

For sure if you use unknown caps and you have doubts about them, you are going to do an experiment, OTOH if you want to do a work because you want a reliable MOBO, you must use good caps.

Re: Can new caps have slightly bulging tops?

there is possibility for caps to degrade in storage so they bulge but new caps can be found which appear to be bulging and this is probably due to the stamping of the vents or other assembly process of the caps.
