    Capacitor Leakage Current

Hi I'm leaning the capacitor world and I would like to know if the
Capacitor Leakage Current high or lower is better. which one?

    Thank you

    Re: Capacitor Leakage Current

Lower. Capacitors with high leakage current (or low insulation resistance) won't hold a voltage very well.

In an audio circuit they can cause a high noise floor(hiss).

          Re: Capacitor Leakage Current

          I was checking the
          nichicon UKA
I can't find the leakage on this cap

the UKA here don't have leakage on the datasheet. or even @ Mouser.com

          and

          nichicon UFW
          has a Leakage Current: 3300 uA Mouser.com

the datasheet from both cap UKA and UFW looks almost the same accept the UFW that has 63v and 100v caps besides that its very identical.

can you guys give some light in my dark tunnel and tell me if both caps has the same leakage.

          Thank you.

On the UKA series, leakage is specified in the chart of "Performance Characteristics", above the matrix of values and voltages. The same is true of the UFW series, and the leakage specification for the two series is the same.

Power Supplies should be boring: No loud noises, no bright flashes, and no bad smells.

Thank you. you made it very clear for me now, since some vendors tell you the leakage in one cap but not in other. Now for sure i can look the chart and get it right next time.

              Thank you again.

              I'm still leaning

                    Re: Capacitor Leakage Current

Capacitor leakage current is an important parameter in amplifier coupling circuits or in power supply circuits. Best choices for coupling and storage applications being Teflon and the other plastic capacitor types (polypropylene, polystyrene, etc) because the lower the dielectric constant, the higher the insulation resistance.

                      Title:
Capacitor detached from PCB – RTX 2070 Super Founders Edition

                      Description:
During maintenance on an RTX 2070 SUPER Founders Edition, I found a capacitor lying on my desk after reassembly.
I did not notice it detaching, so I am unsure of its original location on the PCB.

                      Procedure performed:
                      - Removed backplate
                      - Cleaned heatsink and PCB with isopropyl alcohol + soft ESD brush
                      - Reapplied thermal compound
                      - Reassembled card

                      Observed behavior after reassembly:
                      - GPU powers on and operates normally under...

Is it no harm to replace with capacitor without ripple current rating?
                      by chth96
When I tried to repair LG 29 inch CRT TV, I found that the ESR value of samyoung SMS capacitor(160v 2.2uf), which is very close to D1879 transistor, is 6 ohm.

Judging from above ESR Meter Table,I think It is necessary to replace this sms capacitor. So I visited local electronics shop, and I purchased 160v 2.2uf rubycon YK capacitor.
But when I browse through rubycon YK datasheet,I found that there is no ripple current rating for 160v 2.2uf specification. But On the contrary, I found 39 mA ripple current rating for 160v 2.2uf SMS capacitor.
                      Rubycon YK DataSheet (b...

                      Cyberpower 1500AVR UPS repair
                      by quickname
I'd like to start out by thanking this forum for providing the info to be able to repair my 15 year old CP1500AVRLCD UPS. Here is all the info I gathered during my trouble-shooting and re-capping.

Like clockwork, I've had to replace the SLA batteries every 4 years. It was about that time and the UPS was acting like it needed new batteries... randomly shutting off with AC present, not being able to charge fully, and poor runtime when AC was removed. So, I replaced the batteries but noticed that it was not charging properly.

I decided to verify that the batteries were...

                      Replacement capacitor options please?
                      by Hylax
Hi, I'm super new to this capacitor stuff but I've some basic soldering experience with old cellphones PCBs and headphones. I have this APAQ AR5K 820∆μF 3V Dc Capacitor from a motherboard that I'm looking to replace, photos I've attached. But I'm unable to find a 3V one like I've marked in the spec sheet in red (This is the one currently present in the motherboard). But the 6.3V one I can find (marked in blue) is of similar dimensions but different specs as mentioned in the table. Is it okay to replace it with higher voltage cap, slightly higher ESR, slightly lower ripple current, and double...

Is there any high current pouch battery that are size 60mmX80mm maximum thickness 21mm for a battery operated tab welder
                      by sam_sam_sam
I have a battery operated tab welder and the battery does not have enough current for the battery tab welder because after about 30 welded it does not have the same current output it voltage has gone down by at least 0.500 volts or maybe a more than that

I can fit 21700 battery cells in the enclosure it is very tight fit for four of them that are 35 amp high current capacity 35X4=140 high current output this should work a lot better than what is installed right now

I tested the battery cells there are installed right now and they are testing good with no issues that I...
