    Which is preferred?

If someone needed a cap, 1000uF, 6.3v x 8mm and had the choice between a lower quality cap with the correct specs, and a higher quality part with slightly wrong specs (1000uF, 10v x 8mm), which would be preferred?

The one with the lowest resistance?

    Re: Which is preferred?

Shure, the one with sufficiently low ESR and from the most reputable vendor.
Even some higher ESR would be tolerable, instead of using the crap brand.

Higher voltage is always not a concern, as long as physical diemsions do fit (and you not overdo it e.g. a 200v cap has very likely a higher ESR than e.g. a 50v ones).

So if you have the choice between super low ESR from crap brand and a not that low ESR cap like Pansoic FC or similar, i think is is oviousely, wich to use.

The important thing is, that the specs from the high quality brand is somhow guaranteed, those values from the crap caps are simply a number on paper witouth any meaning.
Just plain hot air, in wich those valuses will very likely disolve like the shugar in a hot coffee.

Dell Optiplex GX260 - Advice Needed for Polymodding Motherboard
        by SwedishDiesel
        Howdy folks,

I have an Optiplex GX260 that blew a couple of those troublesome Nichicon HM series (ultra low ESR) electrolytic capacitors. Because said caps are obsolete, they are pretty much impossible to find on the market; I did find a listing for some but I believe they are counterfeit. I feel the easiest thing to do would be to replace all the blown caps with polymer ones. I am by no means an expert in electronics, and I've found a fair bit of conflicting information, so any guidance or confirmation would be greatly appreciated. While from a practical standpoint it's not worth...

Backlight strip quality, Amazon vs Ebay vs ShopJimmy. Is there really a difference?
        by DXseekerMO
        Hello everyone!

Recently I've noticed that some ShopJimmy backlight strips don't have double-sided tape installed upon them when an application calls for it, and I must purchase the tape separately. In a recent chat conversation with a customer service agent I told them if this tape wasn't applied when it was called for I would begin to consider ordering my backlight strips elsewhere. It looks like this time may have come.

I recently got a TCL 65S4 with bad backlights. After looking at the SJ listing here: https://www.shopjimmy.com/tcl-jl-d65...365as-m-led-ba...

Transformer producing higher voltage than rated
        by UserXP
        Hello, people.
i am not sure if this question belongs to this forum section exactly, but since there already are some queries here about power transformer, let's give it a try.

So, I have this old but very well preserved Casio SA-20 ToneBank keyboard. It is powered either by five 1.5V AA bateries, or via a power adapter, so its operating voltage is 7.5V. The power adapter input jack also states 7.5V DC In. Now, since this keyboard was never supplied with a PT, but actually came with test bateries included, I decided to try to buy an adapter for it. I know I could have just gone...

Help Identify cap brand and quality, please
        by ckrtech
This is a cap on a motherboard from 1994. “Ark” is the only brand I know of that has an A inside a rectangle, but I wanted to run it by you guys and get any thoughts on quality.

        Thanks in advance....

        2 no-POST Tyan Tsunami S1846 motherboards
        by mrmazda
I have twin S1846 boards that won't any longer POST, and Slot1 Coppermine 700MHz and Katmai 600MHz to fit them. A slocket with 933 Coppermine won't POST either, No beeps. The graphics card does put a cursor on the display on power-up. Mixing the parts up doesn't change anything. Three different PSUs, and other RAM sticks don't help either. If there's anything on the web about S1846s routinely dying of old age, I've yet to find it.

        These have 5 UCC LXF 1000uF 10V 10x20mm (codes 8(2) &4H), 4 Sanyo CG 1000uF 6.3V 8x11.5mm, 1 Gemcon seriesless 330uF 16V. All are near CPU slot. All...
