Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

Hello, ya'll. I was strolling across the Internet and stumbled across this site...why did it take me so long to get here?

I'm currently running with over 40 years of electronic experience (34 years Air Force/full-time Air Guard, Avionics), plus working in the robotics and X-ray fields after my retirement. I currently work maintaining airport baggage X-ray machines, Explosive Trace detection (ETD) equipment, Walk-Through Metal Detectors, Body Scanners, etc. in airports in the ARKLAMISS region. No component-level repair in those, but for home projects it's critical.

I look forward to asking and sharing with you folks....

        Hi all,

Jason from KS here - mostly browsing, as I have been getting my feet wet repairing some LCD monitors recently. (two out of 3 so far!) Might be making an advice post soon, as I've got a 27" HannsG with the 2 secs to black (but I cant see the screen with a flashlight?), but all the caps *look* ok - so I might need to invest in a better multimeter, or a capacitor tester soon.

HI, I am Merlin_AmiBay aka Dave and I am one of the founders and Admins of the retro computer forum called AmiBay. Please take the time to pop over there if your interests also include retro computers and consoles.

My dad used to fix TVs when he was younger and I followed in his footsteps, by repairing old computers, VCRs and other electronic stuff over the years. I have joined here to bring myself up to date with more modern sets as my Dad's Toshiba flatscreen lost it's backlight today and a quick internet search found a useful link on here. I hope to use the valuable information on here to being my Dad's set back to life.

Please feel free to ask me any questions on old computers and console repairs as our AmiOracle section on our site is our workshop manual to fixing a lot of these ageing machines. I am achild of the 8-bit era having started with a ZX Spectrum and Commodore 64, then progressing onto Amigas and finally onto PCs from the 286 era onwards.

Hey I'm a wind technician who was given a broken television. I am experienced at troubleshooting machinery, but not at board repair.(We change boards and send the old ones back) I am mainly wanting to download some troubleshooting guides, but figured I better get full access in case some questions come up.

Hello all! I'm new to this board and in reading some of the threads,am not quite sure I'm in the right place, but here goes anyway (please let me know if this IS or is NOT the place. Thank you). Any how,I'm trying to find THREE things.
                      1).100 volt-20 megafarad-+/-10%
                      2).50 volt-30 megafarad +/-5%
capacitors for a "Infinity Reference Series 200.3" speaker crossover that I am trying to rebuild.
3).Power supply schematics for a Denon avr 2106 Home Theater (protection mode repair).
Having said all that, let me add that I am an Electrician, and no (seriously) next to nothing about "electronics",but have an interest and some components that don't work,so ANY help,advice,tips,ect... would be GREATLY appreciated!
                      Again,thanks,and Happy Holidays!

Hello, new here and like many others, I have a TV Issue. My Samsung 52" won't turn on right away. Light blinks, faint clicking sounds, sounds like it turns itself off then back on a bunch of times, then finally, comes on and works perfectly. So, now I'm investigating and hoping it's an easy fix!

Hello everyone. First off a little background about me. I'm a mechanical technician working for a private defense contractor. The products we make are used around the world by just a handful of countries. I assemble and troubleshoot state of the art prototype electro-mechanical devices. My skills are mostly mechanical based, but I know the basic fundamentals of electronics. I joined badcaps.net because my lady friend's plasma t.v. quit working. She just recently went through a divorce and she's a little tight on money. So, being a good friend I told her I would take a look at the t.v. and see if it's fixable. If I can get this t.v. fixed, she and her kids would be super happy.

                                Thanks
