Seiki SC402TT Show logo, then cuts off

TV cuts on (red to blue SB light), shows logo for about 10sec, then cuts off. SB light back to red, no flashes. 10 seconds is long enough to test all voltages on the lines and everything looks good. BL powers on without problems.

No cap bulges or leakage. I just got a new MESR-100 v2 capacitor tester and I think I'm using this thing correctly O.o

It seems like a mainboard issue but I'm not totally sure. I had a Vizio that did almost the exact same thing -- came to the conclusion it was a firmware issue but unfortunately I didn't have the equipment to program a Hyrix eeprom. There is a firmware upgrade for this model, but it is not in my serial# range. My serial is higher so I take it that it has the new fw.

Any suggestions on what to look at for this type of problem to rule out anything else? I'm new to most of this.

    Thanks!

As of right now, the problem could be almost anywhere. I personally would start with checking the power board and the inverter board. The main board seems like it is responding to a problem elsewhere. Not sure though.
Check all caps on the inverter board as a precaution. This can be done with a cap checker on your meter. - ok, I rechecked the picture and it doesn't look like your meter has this function.

Those 4 390uF 35V caps are nichicon caps. They can be faulty at times.

"TV cuts on (red to blue SB light), shows logo for about 10sec, then cuts off" Do you have any video sources or cable box connected? Did this problem just happen?

Re: Seiki SC402TT Show logo, then cuts off

Sorry for the long delay. I've been busy and finally getting back to this set. Got this set from someone and didn't get any substantial history on it so I'm not sure what they had hooked up input wise. They had had it put away for awhile and couldn't remember much.

I changed all the caps on the power board, and 4 of the bigger caps on the mainboard. Didn't get to change out three 330uf 35v on the mainboard as I didn't have any on hand. Have some on order. In addition, didn't have any 390uF 35v for the inverter -- those are on order as well, although my MESR-100 v2 reads that all 4 are right at 0.275

There are a couple handfuls of smaller caps I didn't replace on the mainboard, all low uFs. I'm not an expert by any means but I've not seen a lot of the tiny skinny caps fail often.

Any suggestions on what else I should test. Still very new to this.

You should hook up cable or some kind of video source to see if it will stay on, most TV will go into standby if it does not detect any video signal, that is why I ask the question in post 4.

Just tried all 3 HDMI ports and the VGA -- same response. BTW, I did not replace the big honkin single cap on the powerboard. I've read these don't go out often. Should I go ahead and replace the smaller thin caps on the mainboard or is there anything else I should try first.
