Please i need help to reset bios password for my hp elitebook 1040 g1, I have tried removing BIOS/CMOS battery directly from the motherboard but still didn't work. please i will be so delighted if i can get help here.

Hello, I have the same problem with my "new" bought HP Elitebook Folio 1040 G1. Everything works fine with a new SSD, you can change boot order by F9 but when pressing F10 during the boot process the machine wants to have a BIOS PW. so you conform that MB 1040 G1 working Bord 5V regulator IC PG is 1.3V ?
is the 3/5 Regulator the same ? NB679AGD-Z?
after PL31 you have 6Caps check all of them most of the time PC200 cause fault

there is a way of by pass this only for test putting a jumper from pin 11 to 3 of PU16 PU24 pin5 to 13 or if you have DC regulate apply PG 1V 3A & see what are the SMD getting heat...

I haven't seen a schematic for 1040 g1. I want to try and search for a schematic of another motherboard using same power IC (3v_5v Regulator) as 1040 g1...

what is the voltage on PG PU14 pin3 ? on your mob & 1040 G1 ? check what are rest PG missing...

PR302 & PR297 are short pads

PR67 = 2.58k ohms (3.3k ohms stated in schematics)

After removing PR302, PG is still 1.3v. But after comparing it with another working board (1040 g1), the 1.3v seems to be okay.........

I see, I dont have any hardware programming tool or anything, I guess will just have to leave it as it is.

Flashrom is just a software. You need a programmer for that.
