Hello All.
Bit of a weird one that's got me stumped. I picked up a Macbook which wasn't seeing the internal SSD, I managed to repair that issue (broken trace) however the macbook speakers dont seem to work.
When you operate the volume up / down buttons the display comes up with a "no entry" sign underneath the speaker for some reason? Sound works OK using bluetooth speakers / headphones, but nothing on the inbuilt ones.
When I look in System preferences / sounds there's nothing listed as audio?
Anyone got any ideas?

Re: Macbook 820-3536A Problem
Hi zpi.
See attached images. They're not the best but will hopefully be OK. I ordered a replacement logic board from Aliexpress, which should arrive in 20-40 days. I would still like to attempt to repair this board if its possible....

Re: Macbook 820-3536A Problem
Update. It looks like this board has been worked on before. U6201 is missing completely from the board, DZ6606 has blown, and burnt out the tracks close by.
Looks like this one is a parts only board now.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Macbook 820-3536A Problem
Hi Zpi.
Thanks for responding. U5701 was very slightly warm, it wasn't burning my finger. Unfortunately I don't have a scope, or a thermal camera as of yet, so I will do as you suggest and spray the board with alcohol to see what gets hot that way.
I will let you know what I find.

Re: Macbook 820-3536A Problem
Sorry. Posted on the wrong thread before. The history of the machine:
It came to me as a complete, spares or repair unit. No evidence of any water damage. All of the S5 rails in the laptop are present. The charger light turns green when connected, then turns orange.

Macbook 820-3536A Problem
Update. I'm not sure if I should start a new thread asking these questions in the laptop fault finding section of the forum, so apologies in advance if I'm asking technical questions in the wrong place.
I carried out some further checks on the logic board and a couple of things are not making much sense to me. When I measure for a short on PP5V_S4 I get a relatively low reading, around 9 ohms. I also don't have an enable signal into U7501, which I have traced back to a missing signal from the CPU on PM_SLP_S4_L.
I removed U7501 with my hot air station, and the resistance...

Re: Macbook 820-3536A Schematic / Board View
Thanks for responding mon2.
The files you attached look the same as what I'm working off, however there's components missing off the logic board, and I can't understand why. The board looks like it's been like that since it was manufactured.
Is it usual for Apple to change a board and not update the schematic?

Macbook 820-3536A Schematic / Board View
Hello All!
I am currently troubleshooting a Macbook, and the boardviews / schematics I have found online dont seem to match the board exactly. My logic board seems to be missing several components from the factory.
I am not getting 5V S4 out of U7501, but this board isn't fitted with R7501, R5410, U5410 etc.
Charger light goes green, then orange. I look to have most rails, it's just the 5V S4 and and below I'm missing.
Can anyone help with the right schematics / board view or give me a point in the right direction.
Thanks...

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
I have recently picked up a soldering Iron again to attempt to repair electronics, something which I haven't done for many a year.
When I was a kid, I used to make small electronics projects, things like basic radios or simple circuits using 555 timer chips or Darlington pairs
When the UK locked down earlier on this year, I decided that I needed a hobby (I had built a big shed in the garden over the previous winter, and had just installed power, heat and light).
I decided that I would...
