Re: Your opinion of Apple
Before I made the switch to android, I had a Nokia (cant remember the model - something with XpressMusic?) and it was great. The ignorant ones had iphones and I was belittled about my little touchscreen nokia. Yet... (it had all the usual features - sd slot, removable battery, GPS was far superior, camera was better, youtube worked flawlessly - haha! (i remember my colleagues iphone for some reason couldn't play most the videos?) and I'm pretty sure, it was about a quarter of the cost of an iphone.
Oh... and I could plug that...

Re: Your Best Dumpster Finds
The best dumpster finds I encountered was years ago when i was around 14 (circa 1998) - me and my friend were walking home one sunny evening and we noticed a pile of hifi-separates sitting in a skip. At this period in time, people were ditching the old bulky hifi-separates in favour of these modern all-in-one midi hifi plastic boxes.
We could only carry one each so I grabbed a Sanyo JCX amp/receiver and he grabbed a Marantz twin tape deck. Got home, fired them up, all working, so we went back. Second time round we got a Pioneer record...

Re: Your opinion of Apple
I get laughed at by my fellow iphone-worshippers, for being 'cheap' and 'not being able to afford' an iphone 5.
I then have to explain that I CHOSE my phone because it's rocking a quadcore 1.6ghz cpu, 2Gb of RAM, a 13MP camera, i've chucked a 64Gb sd card in the sd card slot, and I can actually take the battery out of my device by simply removing the back cover.
Oh... and I can just plug it into a PC and it reads and writes as easy as a USB pen. No cruddy itunes software needed.
Yep. I love apple,...

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hi, I'm Steve from sunny Cannock in Staffordshire.
Joined this form after a google search in aid of fixing a certain Samsung TV. It appears you have a wealth of information on here when it comes to this sort of problem.
I'm an Electrical Control Panel builder by trade - good with big cable, relays, PLC's and contactors... but not so 'up' on intricate pcb electronics. But theres room in the brain to learn.
