Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

Greetings, my name is Ken, and I am from Manchester, UK. I have been fixing laptops for a while, but nowadays only really do it for my self or close friends.

I started in computers by buying and fixing an SC80, a Z80 computer designed by a chap called John Adams. It ran a language called BURP, (Basic Using Reverse Polish notation ), and developed to have a couple of floppy drives. I then built the SC84, a Z80 CP/M machine, again designed by John Adams, then followed a range of various machines, anyone remember the Camputers Lynx ?, Atari ST ?, then into PC stuff.

I must thank the guys who manage to post schematics on here; I am working on a Dell with the graphics fan connector ripped off, and thanks to the circuit, I have a chance of linking the fan to the correct places.

      Cheers Ken

            Hi

Component level repair engineer from the UK.

Started as a brown goods service engineer mostly repairing TV, video and audio.

Then moved into IT hardware and software support when AV equipment became cheap and largely unsupported by the people that manufactured it.

A few other things in between and I'm now employed by a UK university repairing test equipment, constructing rigs for research and providing student support.

Thank you for providing this valuable resource.

Hi MJJ58 here. I've been in the electronics industry for more years than I can remember and have always had access to the necessary test equipment be it analogue or digital, but they say you can't teach an old dog new tricks - I think you can, so I'm here to learn, share experiences and enjoy the forum.
