Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

Short version, I'm a repair technician in New England with just enough knowledge about most topics to be considered dangerous. I aim to find the right answer rather than the first one, and am more than willing to be proven wrong as long as someone with evidence and/or experience can do so. Considering that my largest skill is in my breadth of knowledge rather than it's depth, I'm more like a card catalog than a book, but I keep aiming to someday be the library.

Hi, My name is Bob, I come from Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
I used to fix a lot of CBs, computers, older TVs and various other things I put my mind to. However, since I had cancer in 2014 I have not worked with a lot of TVs, Hi-Fi, etc.
I have kept occupied trying to keep the father-in-law from destroying his computer, phone and iPad, it is a bit of an uphill struggle.
It is more a hobby to me, but I have always tinkered with electronics since I was about 9yrs old.
Mostly battery stuff at the start, but it was not long before I started to fix things.
I kept away from TVs for a long time, voltages in valve/tube things was a bit much for the meter I had back then.

                                        Hello everyone!

My government name is Juan but I prefer Junior,

I'm more of a programmer (Number Cruncher as TopCat puts it LOL) , I got into programming in the summer before I got into the 11th grade in HS thanks to a great friend of ours kpjVideo here on the forum I believe. Although I'm still debating what my grandiose capstone/ next project should be so that I may have a proper challenge, probably something to do with CNN or some type of program to make someone's life easier (and me some money for once), I digress.

I first got into repairing computers when I turned 18, but I unfortunately didn't fully understand what it meant to do component level repair (I really f* myself in telling myself what I thought I knew, live and learn) I mainly did the usual simple work as in replacing parts, cloning drives, and simple diagnostics procedures.

My goal is to be more active on this forum and in learning component level repair/electronics as a whole and I think I've got my foot in the door but I know there's much to learn before I can call myself an expert and have the skills that are needed in this Industry. Thanks in advance to all the people who share information for people like me, you make the world go round

Looking at these emotes is absolutely f*ing grand, I just wanna post my favorites
