Hello,
I found several sources where guys successfully read eMMC chip using a SD card reader. I was interested to try it, just to practice micro soldering, but for some reason I am unable to read the chip. The chip is known working one (desoldered from an old working device) model Samsung KLM8G1WE4A-A001. The card reader is Transcend USB 3.0. So basically I've connected everything as it is described in the schematic, but the sd card reader didn't even start to blink. I am not sure what I am missing, so I'll appreciate some help...

I'm replacing the broken microUSB connector on this e-reader, and during inspection after desoldering, I noticed a loose black SMD component marked "CT". One of them was torn off along with the pad, while the other one (marked in the photo) is still in place.
I would appreciate help identifying this component.
Measuring the loose component with a multimeter gives 5.84 MΩ in both directions, while the one still on the board shows no measurable... -
I have a question regarding one of these lenovo laptops. I have a thinkpad p1 gen 3 20th-ct01ww. Recently I've had 2 that after windows updates, it no longer detects the battery. I have tried rolling back the bios update and that didnt fix it. Is this something that requires modifying the original bios to fix or is it bios related at all ? Is this issue common. thanks.

Long story short:
- dad converted Asus Chromebox CN62 into Windows compatible, with mrchromebox BIOS, years and years ago
- gave the computer to his son a couple years later
- son now decided to revert it to Chrome OS, to sell it as original (re-writing BIOS with the backup one created by his dad)
- too lazy to remove the board from the case, thought a voltage regulator was the BIOS chip (you know... it has 8 legs)
(seems like the story was not that short)
He used alligator clips to read the chip. No luck reading it. Removed chip and placed on a SOC-8... -
