Element FLX3220F Power on back to standby

Element Electronics 32 LCD HDTV FLX-3220F
    Power Supply Inverter: BA71F0F01041 A71PDMUT C7A3/A3
    Power Interface Board: BA71F0F01024-1 A71FDMPS
    IO Board: BA71F0F01024-4 A71FDMPS
    Video Scaler Board: BA71F0G04013 NO.3000 A30C5/C7A3/A3 A71FDUH A71FD00017 XV102AG1-01 MST3583M-LF-110 Sil9025CTU XILLEON 242 215H4AALA11HG
    Inverter Transformer: 3PC0XB001 V2L Q94111 Q94III FU-LTZ3PC0XB001 LTZ2PC0MS008 FU-LTZ2PC0MS008
    Possible Alternate Transformer: FU-LT32DM20KIT LT32DM20KIT

Emerson 32" HD Digital TV LC320EM8AN may be the same TV.

Fixya: Generic problem for all Flat Panel Televisions Stays in standbye and will only flash green (power on) twice before staying in standbye

This TV powers on then switches back to off standby within 1 second. All capacitors look good. On the inverter board I see a wire chart for the interface to the video board.

    1:GND
    2:PROTECT3
    3:PROTECT2
    4:PROTECT1
    5:P-ON-BL
    6:B/L - ON
    7:B/L - PWM
    8:GND

I unplug this inverter to video board cable and now the TV led flashes for several seconds then stays on which is what it did when it worked. Of course there's no picture. All that protection must be the inverter detecting a fault and telling the video board to shut off. The inverter board is cheap enough but not available and I need to ensure the lamps work.

I test the 6 inverter channels and the 6 lamps. All lamps work. Inverter channels 1 and 3 are dead. Transformer 3PC0XB001 is not available but crosses to LTZ2PC0MS008 which is available everywhere including Sears Parts Direct at a price so low I order all 6.

Transformers labeled V2L Q94111 or Q94III arrive. They are slimmer than the original part. It seem unlikely there could be two bad transformers. The TV prevents operation with the first failure so a second failure should not occur. I change the Channel 1 transformer first and now the TV works.

Element electronics the former Circuit City's line of no name Chinese crap I believe.

Probably cheap or improperly applied winding varnish on the old transformer caused it's failure. The very thin copper wire on the secondaries leaves little room for error.

A simple short between a few turns is enough to kick the protection on since CCFLs draw so little current in the double digit milliamp range.

Probably all 3 lights were dead because they were all on the same PWM channel (both PWM channels on one IC or separate PWM ICs for each group of 3 CCFLs) so when it went into shutdown all 3 transformers on that channel lost primary drive.

Elements of the past and the future combining to make something not quite as good as either.

Thanks for the fix info! I found two Sylvania LC320SS8A 's on Craigslist (same TV apparently rebranded for several companies; Funai, Emerson, Sylvania...) It was some great soldering practice, and now my lady has a supersized 32" 720p monitor.

My only beef is that this thing doesn't do HDMI @ 720p very well from a PC for some reason...

      Thanks!
