42PFL7403D/27 No video, but otherwise seems responsive

    Hey guys,

Long time lurker, but finally can't find the answer after searching...

So....I'm going to skip (spare you) the horrendously long back story for now...

I have a Philips 42" LCD TV that I have no picture on, but from what I can tell, everything else seems to be working.
    • Powers up (relay clicks, board LEDs come on, etc)
    • Backlight comes on (certain actions cause it to dim and 'undim')
    • When connected to an audio source (HDMI) it will produce audio
    • But no video no matter what I do
    • When attempting to enter a service mode (SDM/SAM,CSM), it seems to respond, but I do not get any verification that, say entering the option code, was successful

I've researched on the interwebs for quite some time....went through the service manual a bit....but can't get any where....
    • TV Model: 42PFL7403D/27
    • LCD Model: 42PFL7403D/F7
    • Chasis No: LC8.1U LA

Short back story to make some sense of where the process has come from:
    • Replaced the LCD Panel (it was cracked) -- set appeared to work with original panel, albeit cracked
    • After replacing the panel, the picture went black, nothing sense (this was the second panel ordered, first was cracked in shipping)
    • I've have three SSBs, two Power Supplies, and two T-Cons, for testing...(and three LCD panels)...all produce the same results...

I read that I may need to update the option code when replacing the LCD Panel and/or the SSB, which I've attempted, but I do not get confirmation that the code is successfully entered.

Any insight or help would be amazing and grateful.

    Thanks!
    Zack

Sorry, I completely forgot to take pictures last night before finishing up for the evening and just getting a few spare moments this evening to take a few and upload them.

They aren't the greatest pictures, so if you need to see something specific, please let me know.

Oh and I forgot to mention in the original post that the two green LEDs on the SSB come on and stay lit as well as the blue LED on the T-Con board comes on and stays lit. Checked the fuses on both the Power Supply and T-Con and they're good.

I haven't got to deep into checking other board related measurements yet, so if you have any suggestions on where I should look/test, I'm all ears.

Ok, finally got to look at this more.

Correction the previous post: the T-Con Blue LED comes on at power on and then goes out after what I perceive is the 'start-up' process.

Checked the voltage measurements on the SSB from the Power Supply and everything looked good -- all 12v lines were between 11.88v and 13.3v and the 3v was @ 3v. Checked at the Gray cable and Black cable at the connection on the SSB.

Also, after the hundredth plus time, I finally was able to get to diversity code (incorrectly stated option code earlier) entered and confirmation that it was set (TV Set turned off after entering the code). Apparently this all has to be done in (very) rapid succession -- not slowly entering the sequence. But still not picture.

So unfortunately, I'm still not any closer to figuring out what is wrong... Any suggestions are welcome.

You replaced with same panel number?
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

Yep, exactly the same panel number.

Well, after everything I have read regarding troubleshooting the TV and others symptoms and resolutions... And everything testing out well... Finally getting the Diversity Code confirmation that it was entered, I figured the PSU and SSB were good...so decided to give another T-Con board a try...

            And now it works!

If anyone has any recommendations on testing the T-Con board to see what could be wrong with them, I'd be interested in diving into them.
