• Re: Dynex DX-22LD150A11 - No life besides Power LED

In case anyone else comes across this thread.

I ordered a main board and that resolved the issue. Not sure what is wrong with the original main board, but all aspects of the TV are working with the new board.

To be honest, I didn't think the new board was working (completely) either. When I first installed it and turned it on, I only got a white picture. After looking more closing I realized the ribbon cable to the LCD was not seated completely -- thanks to the awkward layout of this TV (the LCD Panel...

Sorry, for the delayed response, been quite busy with work this week.

Would you, or anyone have any recommendations for troubleshooting steps on the Main Board?

Thanks for everyone's time and input!

  • Re: Dynex DX-22LD150A11 - No life besides Power LED

I should probably clarify my measurement definitions:
"Off" = TV Standby (Off, with power -- Red indicator light is ON)
"On" = TV On (Blue indicator light is ON)

Also, the measurements originally posted and included below are with the DVD Player and LCD Panel disconnected -- though I have tested with the LCD Panel connected and did not observe a noticeable difference. So if anything will determinately require the LCD Panel connected for testing, please let me know.

Checked those and they seem correct, if I understand and am doing this correctly..?

  • Dynex DX-22LD150A11 - No life besides Power LED

So I was given one of these Dynex DX-22LD150A11 TVs that has been posted about in a few other threads here. I reviewed the five threads I believe I have checked all items that were mentioned in those threads. Results are below.

Issue: No Life (No Video/possibly no audio) -- but kinda shows power. I assume no audio, haven't been able to blindly switch to a connected HDMI source.

    Symptoms:

No click
No back light (not even a flash -- confirmed in a pitch black room)
No response from buttons
Nothing from the DVD player
No other life what so ever, even...

  • Re: Fix Brother MfC-J430W Paper Jam

While I haven't worked on to many inkjet-type printers, I have repaired a large volume of a few different models laser printers, one of these being a Brother model.

These had paper sensors that a small scrap of paper could 'fall' into and trip. Or if paper was to 'forcefully' removed, it could jam or break the sensor mechanism.

I'd recommend closely examining the path the paper travels through the printer.

  • Re: WD My Book Duo NAS WD10000D033 - No Power

    @stj
Ok, so I tested the original PSU on AC and when I apply the red lead it rapidly drains down to 2.0mV and from there is slows down, but continues to drop to <1.5 albeit slowly.

I ordered another PSU last week and it came in today. Both hold the same DC voltage, but the new one does hold in the 25X.XmA range.

However, the new PSU also will not power up either unit I have.

This is the proper adapter I'm almost positive (the specs match at least): https://support.wdc.com/knowledgebase/answer.aspx?ID=1378...

  • Re: WD My Book Duo NAS WD10000D033 - No Power

Ok, so....looked at this a bit more this evening and slightly confused, but do have good news.

So, I started cleaning up the components around where I replaced the chip and then tested all the diodes and transistors I could find on both sides of the board. Everything seemed pretty 'even' (to my level of knowledge) and I compared them to my second NAS's board and everything was still pretty close in readings.

Decided to compare the 'power on' characteristics between the two and found that they both exhibited...

    @jondoe
I'll check the components to the best of my ability this evening.
I have a working, identical board/unit -- but I don't want to sacrifice it, just use it for cross checking.

    @stj
I'm going to say that this is like programming and that I'm staring at the problem, but don't see the missing ';' or something similar. Heh

Are you referring to the chip itself? Between two of the legs? I looked at the board physically and there is some solder hanging out _under_ the chip between the two legs....

  • WD My Book Duo NAS WD10000D033 - No Power

WD My Book Duo (Blue Rings)
    Model Number: WD10000D033

Long story short, I accidentally plugged in the wrong power adapter to this NAS device. It started to have a burn smell, so I took it apart and found a burnt chip. Replaced the burnt chip, but still the device will not power up. The chip is a APM4532.

Now when I plug in power, I get a quick power light flash and then it goes out. I'm attempting to power it up without any drives attached. I have a second one of these, exact model, to reference. Using the proper, original Power Adapter now as well.

  • Re: 42PFL7403D/27 No video, but otherwise seems responsive

Well, after everything I have read regarding troubleshooting the TV and others symptoms and resolutions... And everything testing out well... Finally getting the Diversity Code confirmation that it was entered, I figured the PSU and SSB were good...so decided to give another T-Con board a try...

    And now it works!

If anyone has any recommendations on testing the T-Con board to see what could be wrong with them, I'd be interested in diving into them.

Ok, finally got to look at this more.

Correction the previous post: the T-Con Blue LED comes on at power on and then goes out after what I perceive is the 'start-up' process.

Checked the voltage measurements on the SSB from the Power Supply and everything looked good -- all 12v lines were between 11.88v and 13.3v and the 3v was @ 3v. Checked at the Gray cable and Black cable at the connection on the SSB.

Also, after the hundredth plus time, I finally was able to get to diversity code...

Sorry, I completely forgot to take pictures last night before finishing up for the evening and just getting a few spare moments this evening to take a few and upload them.

They aren't the greatest pictures, so if you need to see something specific, please let me know.

Oh and I forgot to mention in the original post that the two green LEDs on the SSB come on and stay lit as well as the blue LED on the T-Con board comes on and stays lit. Checked the fuses on both the Power Supply and T-Con and they're...

  • 42PFL7403D/27 No video, but otherwise seems responsive

    Hey guys,

Long time lurker, but finally can't find the answer after searching...

So....I'm going to skip (spare you) the horrendously long back story for now...

I have a Philips 42" LCD TV that I have no picture on, but from what I can tell, everything else seems to be working.

Powers up (relay clicks, board LEDs come on, etc)
Backlight comes on (certain actions cause it to dim and 'undim')
When connected to an audio source (HDMI) it will produce audio
But no video no matter what I do
When attempting to enter a service mode (SDM/SAM,CSM),...

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

    Hey,

Long time lurker (and customer, say 2009-ish), finally registering to ask a question I can't find the answer too.

I've been doing board level repairs since ~2004. In high school I got a job with a company that repaired computer equipment for national companies. I was taught some basics by the real electrical engineers -- some guys that could literally fix anything I ever handed to them, no mater how small and microscopic the item was.

I enjoy fixing anything and everything I can...
