    Samsung FP-T5084 No Sound

Ok this one started out with the blowing the fuse problem. Found one of the filter caps shorted. Both filter caps were leaking and crusty. They have been replaced. Tv now turns on, but has no sound at all. The internal speakers, external speakers, headphones, none of them have sound. I have checked the tv sound settings, did not find any problems. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

I checked and it is getting 18vdc from the PS board. I checked the voltage on the speaker output pins at CN401, and they all 4 have 9vdc on them. Is that normal? Does that indicate a short somewhere?

Is that a bad spot on ic401. Can't quite read it. Looks like maybe your audio chip

dskall I didnt notice that till after I read your post. Somebody apparently had their hands in this one before me. That is where they slipped with their soldering iron. Who knows what they were doing. Anyhow it scratched ic401, and there was a solder blob shorting pins 3 and 4 together on ic302. IC401 is the sound amp ic, and ic302 is the sound processor. There is a resistor pad between the 2 ic's that calls for a 4.7k resistor. It is gone. I looked at a picture of the same board and there is a smd resistor there in the pic.

Pin 3 of ic302 is SDA_TV_5V, and pin4 is 12S_SCLK_AMP. I removed the solder blob, and will install a 4.7k resistor. Dont know if there will be any damage to the ic or not.

Sounds like sabotage to me. Maybe they replaced ic401 and in the process blew off the resistor. I wouldn't know as I have never blown anything off a board.

Well I removed the solder blob, and soldered in a 4.7k resistor and the sound is working again. Thanks for the good eye dskall.
