Hi, i have this samsung tv i'm learning to repair. I've read that on the LNXX models, the tantalum capacitor c102 failing can cause this symptom. The symptoms are that if the TV is cold, turning it on will result in a screeching from the speakers, a lot of colored lines and garble on the screen, then the TV goes back to standby and tries to turn itself on again. This cycle repeats. If left long enough, it warms up and you can watch the tv as normal as long as you like.
However, this is an LEXX model and i cannot see any tantalum capacitors on it at all. I am going to take some closeups of the main board as soon as i can and post them.
I wondered at first if anyone has come across this symptom that wasn't the common c102 capacitor? I guess on this mainboard they decided to use some standard electrolytic or solid can caps instead of one or more tantalums. I'm not sure at the moment as i have no schematic and only just started pulling the tv apart.
I can say that none of the caps on the power or main board are bloated/vented but there is some liquid (i wondered if it was flux or maybe leaking electrolyte??) near two aluminium electrolytic can caps.
Hope you can help, pictures to come very shortly!
James.
