I got a Samsung PN50C430 that has a bad panel / bad columns drivers;
About 3 inch from the right side there is half inch wide vertical stripe of white noise. I want to salvage the TV by watching content exclusively from a computer and using software to move the output to the left of the panel defect.
But the white noise of the defect columns is distracting and I want to shut those pixel off. I am thinking about cutting ribbon cable traces between panel and bonded columns IC to do so.
Did anyone do that? Will floating the signal line from/to columns driver by cutting them result in pixels not lit or is it exactly such state that create noisy pixels? Could floating the lines damage circuitry/panel (other than column driver)?
Thanks,
