I picked this one out of a dumpster. It had the solid red standby light with no signs of life when trying to power on. I ordered the repair kit for the main board from ShopJimmy. It consists of U18 and U21. I soldered them both in and hit the power button. The TV came to life but every five seconds, the backlights would cut out. I pulled U21 off, put the original one back on, and the set is now working fine.
I used wick to clean the pads. I checked the pins with a 40x loupe. There were no bridges and no bad joints. I can only chalk it up to another faulty part from ShopJimmy. Though, to their defense, I didn't need the part in the first place and their description agreed with that.
The model number is actually 42LV4400, I missed a zero in the title.
