    Samsung UN46EH6000 Strange T-con Fault

    Hey all

    YAY Another SAMSUNG!

I got this panel for free, its a newer LED panel, when its powered up the screen comes in pink/purple with distortion on the screen. When a signal is attached nothing changes no motion or anything the distortion is static and does not move.

I thought it might be a mainboard as I see there is a common EEPROM failure on these so I had a matching mainboard out of the 55EH and its doing the same thing with the screen but now it is self rebooting after a few minutes and everytime the screen changes distortion patterns and even a solid pink/purple screen with no distortion on it.

I did not have a matching T-con although the AUO and the CMI looked Identical when I put in the AUO the panel powered up and the LED's lit up but no picture at all.

So putting in the old CMI T-con again I disconnected each TFT lead and the distortion stayed on the plugged in side and the unplugged side was off as it should be or white.

The cycling distortion leads me to believe the T-con is the fault I ordered a 10.00 one off ebay to see but I would like to get some input or see if anyone else has seen this sort of T-con failure?

Did you check the voltages on the t-con?

Ended up being a bad t-con. I got the replacement in and the TV fired up picture intact menus look good, the strange issue is when I put a source to it.

The picture looks like a bad gamma chip on its way out the colors are off, the blacks are grey and sometimes when I power it off and on the screen looks white washed like a bad as-15g chip when I turn it off and back on it looks as it was described above.

I was sent a CMI t-con it matches the old one by V546HK3-CPS1 number but the secondary number does not match (35-D074570) <--- old board.

Possible the new one is either bad or it's a matter of being incompatible.

The test patterns looks solid on all tests and in each test section.

At least the panel is good!

You get exactly the right T-con?

Sorry that Hi! was for another post lol.

The replacement was the wrong sir number if you will. I just ordered the correct one from SJ it should be here in 2 days.

The strange part is the FRC/Logic/PRE and POST test patterns look fine, even the Photo test with in the normal USER ui is fine too.

It only with a signal running that the picture looks goofed.

Proper T-con fixed it right up.
