DTX9950 DigitalStream "Digital Stream" Converter Box CB CECB

    Hi,

I have this DTV box that has a Red Power LED stuck on Red and will not respond with the remote or power button on the box, unless I open it up and take a heat gun the Power Supply area.

I usually keep it on 24/7 to keep it going, however it 'died' again some weeks back when the room temperature got down to 66 degrees.

I have it up and running now with the cover off.

I measured the voltages going to the main board (5.5v and 3.3) and they read 5.65v and 3.41v with my tester.

Are there preferences to what Brand or Series to replace the PS caps?

There are no obvious visual signs of bad caps from what I can tell.

Here's what is inside my DTX9950 box:

    Code:

Panasonic FM, Nichicon PW are the easiest quality caps for me to access. There are other series too that are even better.

I have 3 of these converter boxes, two have died, the boards and components are a bit different in each. The first one that died was an easy fix, C8 was a 15v 330uf which I replaced with a 25v 330uf, and maybe it is just us but the picture looks better than it did originally. Now for the second one C7 is popped and that is as the list above, a 10v 470uf. Here is where my memory fails me. It is an all silver cap with 4 lines on the top of the cap, 806, MVEC, 470, 10. From the list above, looking up the Sam Young NXB series, it looks like I need a solid mini aluminum cap, and I figured on putting in a 16v 470uf. Am I on the right track? Also in the Badcap store I was not able to see one of these, or is it just that I am not navigating the site properly? Thank you in advance for any guidance that can be given. Bill
