Samsung LA40R81BDX/XSA starts in DNle demo mode/won't enter service mode

    Hey everyone.
    Samsung LA40R81BDX/XSA LCD issue here.
I replaced caps on the PCB although they looked OK. Then did the EEPROM ic1803 shorting pins 5&6 trick and got it to power up.
My issue now is that it takes a good while to come on and always turns on in DNle DEMO mode and all picture settings have to be reset each time it turns on. Some picture settings also go outside the 0-100 range in the menu.
The other more annoying issue is that it won't enter Service Mode with either of the suggested button sequences from the remote (I've tried info, menu, mute then power (in sequence not all held down at once) from standby mode. The TV clicks on but no service menu and mute, 1, 8, 2, then power TV comes on as soon as I press 1 and no service menu).
Have I fried the EEPROM or is there something else I've missed?
Thanks in advance for your help and advice.
    Regards,
    Luke.

You may have to replace the EEPROM with a blank one.

Is that a firm "may have to.." or could there be another issue? I'll take it on but it'll be like brain surgery to a hammer and wrench guy like myself. I'd like to exhaust all avenues first

I've not had this issue myself so it's a guess. When you jumper EEPROM pins you are basically stopping the TV reading the EEPROM, skipping over the part stopping it booting, perhaps it then tries to read it later and finds a corrupted section causing the issues you encounter. I don't know for sure though.

          Can you get into user-menus?

Should be able then to turn off the demo, think its under advanced features of picture menu...

Yep that makes sense Tom. Alastair yeah I can turn off DNle demo no problem and set up picture and tune channels etc. (it does retain channel tuning when turned off) but as soon as i turn it off it loses all other picture settings and reverts back to DNle demo.
