    A bad panel question

why plasma panel fail, why develop a vertical line its becuase of heat or aged material problem , panasonic old panels vs new panels its 100000 hours just marketing or its achieve with 2013 plasma models

    Re: A bad panel question

It is the driver IC bonded to the panel failing. Unfortunately it cannot be replaced.

100,000 hours is marketing, referring to the panel phosphor degradation rate, meaning after 100,000 hours brightness will be halved.

It's sort of like a car manufacturer guaranteeing the car to be free of rust for 150,000 miles -- they don't guarantee anything else with it.

tom66 driver IC it is a good quality on 2013 panasonic plasma , its the same league like the old plasma or worse how long hours the IC drive can achieve , a high contrast can speed the fail of IC driver or not

        Re: A bad panel question

Failure is random and is much rarer than LCD failure.

Contrast does not affect power dissipation: image complexity, however, does. What this means is, the more transitions in the image, the more power. Very hard to reduce this. This is the same for LCD.

Can LED panels be used from different TV's ( or the internals to the panel )?
          by NolesFan
I have a TV, ( example ) Sony XBR-75X80G that the LED panel is cracked, does anyone know if we can take the LED panel from a ( example ) Sony XBR-75X80H and plug it in and it will work? Or if the panel measurements is not exact, can we take the internals of the cracked panel 80G TV and mount into the good panel 80H TV? Thank you

What parts can be salvaged from a plasma with a damaged display panel?
          by SurrealMustard
I recently found myself the proud owner of a later-model Samsung plasma (the PN59D7000 for those keeping score at home) whose panel was, unfortunately, damaged in transport. I'm now preparing to part it out, but am curious as to whether or not any damage would have come to any of the components by attempting to power it up with the panel being broken. I read in one Avsforum thread (for whatever that's worth 😂) that the "scan driver boards" (by which I assume he means buffer boards) could be impacted by doing so. Is that actually the case? If so, since I don't intend on selling bad...

SAMSUNG UN50TU8000F rebooting, backlight ok. No 12v to panel boards.
          by triplefour
TV flashes backlight then reboots over and over. no image. Client said it used to have image for a bit before rebooting. Got worse over time.

          tcon is built into mainboard.
Only one cable goes to panel boards.
there is a cable from one panel board to the other that links them.
cost cutting measure that results in us having harder time to diagnose.
removing the link to the second panel board allows TV to stay on with stable backlight but no image.
used cut off tape method to mask 1 maybe 2 pins on the side of the cable that goes to that second panel board....

          QN55Q60R Service Menu Panel Help
          by Storyteller12
I had a the above tv qn55q60r that had a bad panel but everything else good. I had another panel here from un55nu6900 with bad leds and melted diffusers.

I put the nu6900 panel in and powered it up and it does work but there are lines vertical lines.

I was trying to change the panel type in the service menu but don’t see my exact panel. Anyway to fix this or someone have similar experience.

the clear picture is the panel type from the service menus on the nu6900. The other 1 is the panel type that was set for the q60r with the bad panel....

Missing LCD Panel Voltages VGH, VGL, VCOM (TCL 55P6US Sound & Backlight but NO Picture)
          by maneatingmonkey
I have a TCL 55P6US with sound and backlight but no picture. This model does not have a T-CON board, and the right (rear perspective) panel board is fed from the left panel board. I have not been able to induce any change by disconnecting the secondary panel board or the tape cut-off method on the primary board.

There are a bunch of voltages missing on the panel boards. I can't find any shorted caps of the panel boards, and all of the missing voltage rails read in the kiloohms, which leads me to suspect the issue may lie on the circuit board, rather than a short in the panel.
