Pioneer, PDP-5020FD intermittent, 8 blue blinks

Hi, I have a PDP-5020FD which works intermittently.
Sometimes it starts up and works fine and if I turn it off and back on, it will go to 8 blue blinks and will keep doing the 8 blue blinks and won't go on. However before it goes to 8 blue blinks mode, I can see a very dim light on the whole screen, like a TV without the back light and then it will shut itself off and will go to 8 blue blink mode.
I saw in one of the post that the regulator ic IC7951 could have been gone but in my TV its fine and that's fine the TV works sometimes!

When the blue light blinks, hold the DISPLAY key down on the side of the TV. The orange light should blink some times indicating a more specific error code. What code do you get?

I get 5 orange blinks.

When I hold the display button, I get 5 orange blinks.

Ok, that is different to what I got (one blink.)
Did you check the voltage output of that regulator when the set is faulty?

I did the voltages on pin 2 (3+ V) and pin 4 (1.7 V) are ok.

Pin 4 should be 1.8V, not 1.7V. The drop could be important. When it works, can you check the pin to see if it goes up to 1.8V?

Sorry to get back to you late!
The voltage on pin 4 was exactly 1.79V and 1.8V when the TV is on momentarily.

so I decided to change the 2 boards with the guy on the ebay. I did that and I got the boards back today. I installed them but still the same exact problem!

I have to admit though, the guy on the ebay is a honest guy! As soon as I told him about the modules are the same way, he refunded all my money!
