Samsung LE32C580J1K - Overscan on SD channels

    Hi

I have had my Samsung for a few years now but I have discovered that my TV does not have the ability to turn off overscan when in TV mode using a normal terrestrial aerial when viewing SD pictures.

HD pictures seem to be ok with picture options "Screen Fit". Im assuming this maps the pixels or something, odd that its not selected by default though.

When trying to ajust SD using the picture options "Auto Wide" and "16:9" these behave in the same way, neither appears to turn off overscan like "Screen Fit" does which is greyed out.

    Any help much appreciated.

    Kind Regards,
    Statalite

Would my question be suited to a different type of forum?

There are other picture options but the one I need is "Screen Fit" which maps the pixels.
This is greyed out for SDTV.
Taken it up with Samsung customer support but I cannot see myself getting very far.
I cannot see them changing the firmware for an older model.
However I would have thought that this is a fundamental feature to be able to see the whole picture including the overscan area.

As far as I know--Thats just the way the 'C' series was.....
You can try updating the F/W but doubt it will improve matters...

Maybe they do not do this because some incorrectly broadcasted channels include VBI data on the top line - you can sometimes see this as a series of dots at the top of the frame...
