HELP, I think i screwed the pooch! Samsung PN50c7000

HI, I got a samsung PN50C7000 3D plasma that HAD two small horizontal lines across the top of the screen. I bought a Y board off of ebay but when i installed it. POOF! A spark and and a pop and the picture went out!

So through my bumbling now my screen is half black, no pic and the other starts off as white static the fades to red, then purple then finally black. I can still hear audio. I have replaced the x buffer boards that is on the black side, no change. I have replaced the Y sus board but not the Y buffer board.

thank you for any response....am i screwed?

It sounds like you changed a buffer board whilst the circuit was still energised or shortly thereafter so you damaged something.

If it's any consolation, I think your plasma panel was bad - thin horizontal lines are rarely cured by a new Y-buffer. In this case I expect that you have a common issue with these panels. I am not sure if it is fixable.... I have not tried.

Ok, thank you for your reply. I was afraid of that.

I was able to bring this unit back to life by replacing the y buffer with a new board. I tried a couple of used ones, but they didn't work. I still have seven thin horizontal lines on the screen.

Two possible causes of the lines, one is a bad panel but it's also possible the ribbons on the Y-buffer side are't properly seated, so remove any suspect ones and seat them properly.
