Thanks for the hint about lights, so I put the TV ON with out any lights and I found a resistor glowing on the Y board, so will need to continue the invesstigation.

when you asked about any lights being on, on the x and y boards, I switched all the lights off, then switched the TV ON, couldnt see any lights but did see a glow from a resistor, so there is a problem there on the Y board. Thanks for the Hint.

Do you know where I can get a diagram for the y board, number LJ41-02345A or LJ92-01058A, the resistor that getting hot is R5108.

Unfortunately Samsung do not release diagrams for those boards;
Can you highlight this failing resistor on the Y-main board?
Does it stop glowing if you unhook the buffers?

Will try that, Ok disconnected both buffer boards and the resistor did not get hot.

to me that indicates a good chance that a buffer board is bad; try with only one at a time.

Thanks Tom66, the bottom buffer board is the problem, will go to Ebay see if I can get another one. Thanks again for your help.Will update you when I get the new buffer board.

Would be a good idea to replace the burning resistor too.

have now got a 42" Philips plasma, with the same symptons, will post it later.

have got the new bottom buffer board, the only problem now is a broad band of about 20 lines to the right of centre going from top to bottom, any ideas

Yeah most likely, would like to see a picture before saying definitively but there is a good chance.

What do you mean, by panel do you mean the screen or a board.
