Samsung HPR-5072 Plasma- "crackling pop" then cycles off/on

Hello TV Gurus,

2007 Samsung plasma powers up normally on a daily basis. After 2-3 hours of use on a random basis (every 2-5 days), a loud "crackling pop" is heard, immediately followed by power cycling off/on (indicated by blue circle) and then normal operation resumes. Sometimes, may occur twice during the same viewing session.

I'm guessing a failing power supply?

Any counter diagnosis is welcome.

A common issue with these is cold solder joints - a fairly easy fix - just need to resolder the main joints that fail. They are on the power supply board. If you need help, just post some pictures.

Finally got this beast off the wall.
It' rather dusty. Use some air to clean then remove PS board?

I would clean after removing board. Lots of dust gets under PSU. Not a major issue in most cases though.

To an untrained eye...looks flawless? One pic looks like there was heating, but it's more of a residue. I wouldn't object to swapping with a new one, or is only remanufactured available? I would be apprehensive about having to send mine for an exchange. I did this once for a non-related electronics part and what they sent me was more problematic than the core I gave them. Also, if it matters, I may have been incorrect on the DOM. Might be 2-3 years older than 2007. Sure appreciate your guidance. Thanks.

Ah Ha! May have found something on one of the heat sinks. Appears to be some heating? Unsure about the white residue. What's under the shrink tube? Should I try a re-solder here? I have a small butane iron that works well.
