Samsung dvd hr-734 dead

Hello,
i have 2 pieces of this player, showing the same defect: when powered on on display i can read "open hdd" but nothing happens, no video on tv, no response to eject tray, nothing, seems locked.

Anyone worked before on these? can be related to firmware on eprom? or they have some linux appliance installed on hd?

Try doing a reset.
DVD in st-by mode, press the STOP button until the LED flashes st-by
