For a Logic Board the signals sure seem illogical

    From wire #1 - #12
    #1 20mV/Div 1mS/Div 1Xprobe
    #2 20mS/Div " "
    #3 2V/Div " "
    #4 2V/Div " "
    #5 20mV/Div " "
    #6 .2V/Div " "
    #7 20mV/Div " "
    #8 .2V/Div " "
    #9 .2V/Div " "
    #10 20mV/Div " "
    #11 50mV/Div " "
    #12 50mV/Div " "

      @tom66,
I read your How to run the self test on a plasma display control board / logic board thread. Great post, btw! My panel is a LG PDP42X36000 if you happen to know how to get to the "self test mode".

I don't think these LG's support self test mode without an expensive jig. I'm not sure, though.

Your control board is sending out the correct signals, so the fault -must- be on the Z-sustain somewhere.

I guess now would be a good time to get an ESR meter. I found one that claims to measures "Automatic detection of NPN and PNP transistors, N-channel and P-channel MOSFET, diode (including dual diode), Thyristor, Transistors, resistors and capacitors" http://www.ebay.com/itm/Transistor-I...p2054897.l4275. Do you have any idea if these work? Thank you, again, for your insight.

On second thought I think I'll just get another ZSUS board to get the thing working. Maybe after I do some research on testing PCB boards I'll try to tackle component diagnosis. I found PCB Rework and Repair Guide but it's going to take some time to digest.

I'll post back here after I swap out the board. Thanks a million tom66. You're a TV saver!

I swapped a ZSUS board from ebay with identical part #s and the TV shows the same malfunction. Not sure if the board I bought was faulty or if there is some other problem.

Forget my previous post. The ribbons were not attached correctly. I reconnected the ribbons and the PDP showed static. I am going to connect a PS3 that a friend just brought over but at this point it looks good. Now I'm wondering if the ribbons weren't loose from the beginning but I will have to resolder some connections that I desoldered in order to test some components. Thank you everyone for helping me save this TV! Cheers

Yes, I reset the ribbons and the picture is normal. Out of curiosity, I put the original XSUS back in and made sure the ribbons were connected correctly but the same lack of image appeared.

The XSUS was the fault but I'm not sure what components. I now have two failed XSUS that I hope to piece together into one good one. I'll post the outcome of my efforts.
