    Re: Problem with Samsung ps43d490 PDP

    Not sure what to expect but voltages are as follows:-
    Va = 0.3
    Vs = 10.2
    B5v = 5.2
    Vs con = 0
    Ps on = 0.17
    Vs on = 0
    A5v = 5.2
    B15 = 14.6
    I get the same readings in test mode with the pin connecter on pin 3 + 4 with ldvs cable disconnected as I do in normal mode.

      Your problem looks like X- or Y-main short. Unplug both X- and Y-main and check the Vs, Va. Only need to check those two.

        Vs and va are both 0v, that's in normal mode without the jumper and lvds connected.

          with the two wires highlighted disconnected va=58v and VS=207v which is what is on the lable.

            with just these 2 cables out va and vs are right. does that mean the control board is at fault?

              Re: Problem with Samsung ps43d490 PDP

              For now, leave the white ribbon cables. Only concentrate on the cable between X- and Y-main, and between Y-main and power board. Isolate the X-main power cable. You should briefly (1~2secs) get Vs/Va. If not, plug in X-main again and repeat with Y-main power cable. You should briefly get Vs/Va.

              If you find the X-main to be failed, it is recommended to replace the Y-main at the same time, and vice versa.

                Yes I briefly get va and vs on both boards.

                  Which situation gives you Vs/Va: When both are unplugged? When one is unplugged? When neither are unplugged?

                    Re: Problem with Samsung ps43d490 PDP

                    with x power cable out, y in.
                    and y to main board out, x power in.
                    I just try both now.
                    With all the cables in I briefly get 207v vs and 58v va.

                      I'm very confused by what you are trying?
                      Do not touch any cables other than the GREY cables between power and Y-main, and X-main to Y-main for now.
                      Is there ANY combination which will cause Vs/Va to power up when GREY cables are isolated from the Y/X-main?

                        Re: Problem with Samsung ps43d490 PDP

                        lol im only pulling out gray cables.
                        If I pull out the gray cable on the x board I get 207v vs and 58v va briefly.
                        If I put that cable for x back in and pull out the gray cable between main and y I also get 207 vs and 58va briefly.
                        If I put that cable back in so no cables are out I still get 207v vs and 58v va briefly.

                        There are no combinations that will keep the vs and va on for a long time, unless I pull out the 2 ribbin cables on the control board which I said eairler.
                        sorry for the confusion.

                            OK, now look at the light on the control board. it will either light not at all, flash a few times then stop, flash once a second or once about every 5~7 seconds, what does it do?

                              it flashes on for 5 secs then off for 2 sec.

                                OK, replace the X- and Y-main boards then.

                                  ok, whats the web site you used? when I googled parts4u it only came up with car parts.
                                  Why do you think its the x and y boards and not the control board?

                                      No, that's by (odd) design. Samsung made a mistake and cut them after production.
                                      The 5-2 indicates a DRV RESET fault due to X- or Y-main failure, control board would not cause this.
                                      I don't suggest component level repair of these, simply because the exact reason for failure isn't fully understood and they may cost more to repair than it's worth it... this situation may change in the future though.
