    Samsung LA26R71WD

Hey I have this tv here it has no sound.
I am wondering what is going on with it as the head phone jack produces sound.
the optical plug has a light.
    Power board: BN96-03058A

Check with only one speaker at a time? In case one is shorted.
For most audio debugging a scope is incredibly useful.

      Hey tom no scope here.

Did as you said, still no sound.

Also would like to note that tv has lines going thru it.

Seems to be on the board that has pink and white cables coming out of it.
also its intermited which indicates dry solder joints. as when I put the hair dryer switch to cold onto it the lines come back.

But that's easily fixed, I am wondering how come it has no sound..

worked the screen problem looks like its the ribbon cables to the screen.
as when push on the bezzle, I can create the problem.

but its this sound issue that has me, I am stuck I want to get this fixed before moving onto fixing the picture.

Also, check the 12V from PSU, there is a 13V and 12V rail on these I believe and 12V is for audio.

As I only have my phone with camera its not very good at taking crystal clear photos, I have resorted to hunting down a good photo of the same board.

Not sure which rail you are talking about. would that be the 4 wire rail?

That is the power board, I want the main board, one with video inputs.
Rail = electronics terminology = basically means voltage source shared by many devices.

worked it out the rectifier on the power board was dry soldered.

                    sound works.

now I will try get past my flickering problems

Its Horizontal lines when you cold start it up, then it flickers at random for some reason...

Problem seems to be with inverter.

                      Dry solder joints?

they are flashing lines bit hard to get a picture of them
certain distance apart shading the picture each bar.

Looks like it could be panel - possibly tab bonds.

Picture does come right after awhile.

but when its cold it takes awhile for the symptoms to disappear.

how do I inspect these tab bonds?

You take the front plastic off and the metal frame off the panel.
Here is one for top bonds though your fault may be the side bonds.

                                    hey was that your video?

                                    If so good job.

I don't see how it could be tab bonds being that these are horizontal and them tabs are connected to anything but the LCD panel.

but unless its only a few loose ones that join on tab1 that goes to these horizontal tabs.

                                      Yes, that's me.

There are both tabs on top and side of panel.

Top left bond could possibly cause this fault too.

                                        winner winner chicken dinner lol.

Yes I think you are right just had the panel off for a hour and flexing that top left does recreate problem.

now suggestions on what is a good material to use as a shim.
