Toshiba 50HP66 - HELP PLEASE - WON'T TURN ON CLICKING FAULT

    Hello There,

I got a TV about a week ago that has got me puzzling. I'm trying to figure out how to troubleshoot these plasmas without throwing parts at them. The previous owner told me that he was watching TV and heard the ol' POP sound and then tada no power only a click ........... click........ click.....

I opened the back and noticed 3 domed 470uf 250v caps. I've replaced those and still don't have power. Just the click and the momentary green light one of the boards (it's illuminated in one of the pictures).

WHEN I DISCONNECT THE XSUS I GET POWER, NO PICTURE, AND I MEASURE VS+ AT 168v... IS IT SUPPOSED TO BE 18v?...
I MEASURE 1.14ohms resistance between GND and 5+ on the XSUS upon removing it and probing around.

I don't see any other bulging caps on any of the boards including the XSUS. I found the service manual for the 42hp66 and did the voltage tests. I followed the very limited troubleshooting section of the service manual here:

    IS THERE VOLTAGE
    AT PIN 11 OF CP3201
    5V ? YES

    IS THERE VOLTAGE
    AT PIN 2 OF IC3804
    AT3.3V? YES

Why is it telling me to CHANGE SCALER PCB? Seems like this is a power supply or XSUS problem right?..... How do I eliminate possiblities? How do I repair the XSUS rather than replace?

    HELP IS SUPER APPRECIATED!

Looks like those old boards that use those IPM modules. (the big chip under the huge heatsink) these are usually the problems with x or y main boards. You can try to repair it by replacing the IPM, but there might be other defective components too so no guarantees. Also they are extremely difficult to desolder...

Have an update. I happen to have a compatible XSUS board from an 05 Zenith 50" i picked up the week prior. She is alive! The IPM was shorted. Thanks guys Already sold it. There were some faint sparkles in the top corners that I tweaked 99% of them out by lowering the resistance on one of the YSUS trim pots.
