      Re: Samsung 42" Plasma PN42C450B1D

Resurrecting an existing post (as I have the same model PN42C450BZ, but a slightly different issue). Recently the picture on our set has been having display issues (audio is not impacted). The TV will power on, and the picture looks great, then shortly thereafter (can be minutes, or an hour later), the picture is no longer viewable. Lots of Green/Red pixels. Based on reading through this post, and Tom's link/his quick guide for this model TV, I am still uncertain what to suspect (logic board, main board, or elsewhere). I have already replaced the TV with a newer model LCD/LED, but miss the pleasing picture of the Plasma, and if its not too troublesome/expensive would like to repair this TV.

Attached are two images of the TV, the first picture (with the most coloration was displayed initially, and then shortly after the second image was present, mainly black with some red/green pixels).

I welcome any suggestions. Thank you in advance.

I forgot to test/share what occurs when I pull up a menu... The TV actually looked great for a moment or two, then the menu was pixelated, eventually unviewable. Sample image attached. (This is with an input displaying content).

Can you heat/cool area's of the circuit boards to identify which board and what area on that board causes the pixelation.
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

Sorry, not familiar with the technique of heating or cooling boards...

Heat up an area of the circuit board with a hair dryer but don't overcook it and see if the fault manifest itself quicker. Basically you are searching for an area of circuit board which heated brings up the fault quicker. Then using freezer spray to cool down the area (or a can of air duster sprayed upside down) to see if the fault disappears.
Repeat until you narrow down the area and then component(s).

                Re: Samsung 42" Plasma PN42C450B1D

Hi, I have the same tv and have the usual clicking sounds coming from the 2 black relays on the power supply. When I disconnect the plug that goes from the y board to the power supply, I jear the samsung sound but have no picture. Whn I plug it back in all I get is the cycle of the clicks.

I just received my new y board and unfortunately it did not fix the problem. Should I have replaced the x board also?

                Thanks in advance.

                  Re: Samsung 42" Plasma PN42C450B1D

Bumping this thread since I'm also trying to fix this old TV after just fixing a buddies Vizio. I've fixed blown cap LCD Samsung's in the past but this plasma seems a different beast. I've got three X Main LJ41/LJ92 boards, the one currently installed worked for a while like a year ago, this weekend I played with it again...no picture, changing sources does nothing (a YouTube video suggested it), green light flashes on the little board in the middle, red light comes on and I get the startup sound.

It's been so long I forgot the history of the other two X Mains I have, both of which have no sound and causes like 4 relay clicks and then nothing, won't power on or anything. I threw the sound only board back in and now it doesn't do anything at all either. I'm at a loss so I'm.gonna leave it disconnected from power for a while but I was hoping someone could walk me through like the dummy I am. Old thread means dead links and/or useless Photobucket pictures of no help.

I just found a 4th X Main board but I'm hoping someone can offer advice before swapping yet another likely dead board :/
