I have a HP-T4254 that a friend brought me to have a look at. I'll start off by saying this is my first TV repair so please bear with me. I've searched first before posting and came across someone else thread that was having the same issue. ( https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...light=HP-T4254 )
So this TV does the same as the above thread mentioned. It will turn on for a few minutes to a couple of hours and then start turning off and on. I went out and bought the Atlas ESR70 meter and started to test caps in circuit. The readings were way off so I took them off the circuit board and proceeded to test that way. I have 4 1000uf35V caps that all measure around 950-970 and was giving an ESR reading of 0.00 and 0.01. According to the chart that came with the ESR70 it should have a ESR rating upwards around 0.11. I've also tested caps from a Xbox 360 just to see if it would give me an ESR reading and it's always 0.00.
Am I doing something wrong or is it my meter that may be malfunctioning?
