    Akura set top box

My digi box stopped working some months ago ,the box did not work with the handset . I put it aside to look at ,so at xmas I checked the handset with my camcorder ,it was working OK.
Time to investigate , out puts of the power supply were
    21 V
    5.8V (6V)
    2.4V (4V)
quick check showed 2 mF caps with high esr,s ,replacing these fixed the box
2 negative supplies were shown on the power supply ,but there no components fitted.

    Re: Akura set top box

Thank you for posting this information.

It is a shame set-top box manufacturers use poor capacitors, a lot of these boxes were given over to elderly/disabled people for the switchover (for free), and are now dying. Why there was no minimum 5 or 10 year warranty on them baffles me.

Likorall 200 Ceiling Hoist - Lithium battery conversion
      by DanielCoffey
I am considering a Lithium battery conversion for our Likorall 200 Ceiling Hoist as it is about at the end of its current set of batteries but I was wondering if there are any considerations I need to think about such as voltage regulation.

It is used for powered transfers of a disabled person from chair to bed a few times a day in a private household. It is our own property and is 6 years old.

      ===

It is fitted with a pair of Yuasa 12V 2.4Ah AGM batteries in series for a 24V system. The batteries are the long thin type with the terminals on one end...

how to prevent a connected charger from draining battery when not charging?
      by flat-earther
I have an RC radio handset(Taranis QX7) which doesn't have internal battery charger which means I had to remove the battery every time I needed to charge it.
So to improve it, I added a 15W USB-C charger board(link) inside and soldered it to the same connector on the PCB where the battery plugs into, great, now I can simply charge it with a USB-C cable.

but the problem I found is that after the radio sat for two weeks without being used the 2S 18650 battery that I'm using was at 4.2V!
So the battery is backfeeding the charger and being drained.

      How can I prevent...

      Panasonic NVGS50 camcorder backlight issue
      by Pierre95
      Hi,

I'm getting a backlight issue with the integrated LCD monitor. The LCD display itself is working well as the image can be seen when applying an external light source.

There is a hall sensor for detecting opening/closure of the display. When opened, voltage is supplied to IC908. However no oscillation occurs at none of the inverting gates within IC908. I assume IC908 is where the oscillations take place, then go to T901 through Q902, for finally driving T902.

But I don't know which component to check for the no-oscillation symptom. IC908 seems to...

MSI GS73 (MS-16K61) : help me find short (got thermal cam)
      by snow_sg1
      Hi,

First : I've got a SMD rework station, thermal camera and good soldering station

This is my first "short" motherboard repair, this laptop was 25€ so no loss, it just for learning. I want to learn how to fixed board because I want this to become my job.

I've been fixing electronics for 15+ years, but mostly VCR and camcorder.

So, I checked power adapter pin to ground, no short, then I plugged the charger in, light on charger blink indicating short.

PQ19 mosfet got HOT straight away (viewed on thermal cam). Checked,...
