Samsung Plasma PN43D450 Possible Purchase

They are asking $80 i offered them $40 and they said okay. does anyone have an opinion about this model? should I go for it?

Here's what they say about it:

As is 43 inch plasma television. Screen no longer shows a picture but it powers up (only know this by the red light flashing and noise made when it powers on)

Note!!!! if this is a double posting I apologize!!! I thought I posted it but can NOT find it anywhere, maybe posted under monitors or the wrong place, I don't know. I've searched and searched, it's as though it disappeared.

If it buzzes (like an angry wasp or someone tapping rapidly on glass), AVOID it... it is a cracked panel and likely broken right on the edge (Samsung plasmas are well known for this and it's nearly impossible to see in some cases.)

Thanks Tom! They say the bezel is cracked, I wondering if the screen is also. I'll e-mail them and ask about the noise.

I'm not sure at this point what to do, I'm visiting relatives and while here in this area I'm searching for mainly broken LCD TV's ( at least one ) to take back home and fix, don't want any cracked screens not now. anyway here's their reply.

Their Reply: "It has the stand and remote. It's cracked on the corner plastic piece and is only the frame, front. No unusual sound it's a powering up sound which has happened since I bought the tv. No buzzing or tapping sounds."

It may be OK. The main board is a common failure on this model, but since it is powering up and making the tone, perhaps not. It could be a sustain board then... If it's like the PS42B450 I serviced, the X-main commonly fails and is reasonably cheap.

When my dad visited relatives, he brought back a 50" plasma to fix... and I did... and he kept it because he liked it so much.

Well it was about 35 miles from where I'm at and we were visiting and doing other things so they sold it before I had a chance to go get it, I keep missing them.

Have you tried posting an ad in your local area asking for faulty TVs?
