If it really needs another panel, I know it's not worth it, but
is it possible it's something else? The spilled water doesn't
give me too much hope, but it can't hurt to ask.....

For 40-50$ I would take it, worst case you will make your investment back selling off the parts.

It's a bad panel. Any time you see a black bar top to bottom pretty much guarantees a bad panel.
