    Toshiba 32c3031db

    Looking at this set for a friend..it seems it has suffered a software update as everything works but the built-in freeview..
    The freeview card model no is PE0284/V28A000319A1..after doing sum googling
    it looks like a tv tech with new software can fix this via dvb common interface card..dont suppose there are any toshiba techs here who could help me with my situation..thx

    Everything else works perfect apart from the built-in freeview..im awaiting the remote 2 try a factory reset..thats if it has that option..but im thinking im stuffed without that card & software

      Have looked for firmware but no luck, thought maybe if it was written to a PCMCIA flash card it would work, but Toshiba don't have a copy.

        Ive hooked up a freeview box & all is good with that..ive got into service mode but without available settings i dare not change owt..theres 3 boards on ebay for 30 quid but they from a 40" set..i only need the PE0284 board but for 30quid you get all 3..they are all exact size & connections r the same..is it worth the risk?..ebay item no 280978194460..

          The Freeview board would work in any screen size I reckon.

          Thing is, who knows, maybe that board hasn't had the split-NIT update patch applied? No idea if Toshiba even did it for many customers.

          The splitting of the network information table broke lots of old boxes and TVs when Freeview standards were changed - it meant the TVs needed more memory to store the programme guide and they crashed (no picture or random lockups/reboots) or had no programme guide, sometimes keeping channels.

            Ive emailed Toshiba regarding my problem & they are posting me the card with the software so alls good & should be fixed..

              Well, that's fantastic customer service from Toshiba if they are doing that. From reading up on this, they seem to be quite good on fixing problems like this (including things like LCD mura occurring 3-4 years after purchase.) Unlike other manufacturers...

              If you get the card, then I can copy off all the data and host it for future users.

                Yeah no worries..i didnt think id hear owt & it was a long shot but all it took was a simple email

                  Card came today..very fast response as i only emailed them less than 2 days ago..2mins later back up & running
