Toshiba 47ZV650U possible purchase

I have found this TV on Craigslist and the owner claims that the bottom half of this TV works and the top it's completely blacked out.
That is possible with a LCD TV? I thought that only plasmas have these issues.
What do you guys think about this?
Any help is appreciated, thank you.

Could be tab bonding issues, backlight issues or just t-con... Get a picture of it.

You got enough space for a 52" and a 47"?

It could be side tabs issue?
T-con usually it's not vertical issue, can be horizontal too?
I have a 36"x72" workbench, but only one would fit. I have another cheap Ikea kitchen table, but that fits only a 42" max.
I'm storing them for bad days.
I still have a dead 42" Philips, a shorted LG(bud it was helping me, but now it needs to wait a bit), the LED Sharp(needs a scope picture from me), two fixed TVs and an Asus 24" monitor, which I will have to go back to when everything slows down.
