we replaced the y sustain board in our toshiba tv and now the screen is flickering and has vertical lines. does anyone have any suggestions as to what we should do next?Leave a comment:

Re: Toshiba 50HP66 Plasma No Picture Flickering
I think it causes direct connect of the Vscan voltage, so the buffer board ends up selecting all lines at once instead of just one. The other way it could fail is open, unlikely, which would lead to a dark screen.Leave a comment:

Re: Toshiba 50HP66 Plasma No Picture Flickering
you were right - had one blown mosfet (FQB46N15TM) - set works perfect again. These sets have a fairly good pic - one negative is the amount of screws to remove the back cover and the weight ! thanksLeave a comment:

Re: Toshiba 50HP66 Plasma No Picture Flickering
I have this set 50HP66 and have the curtain bar (when menu pressed - vertical bar about 5-8 inches wide down screen, rest of screen is black). I've seen other posts about this - like u said its the y buffer boards. How does the buffer board cause this display ??? thought when buffer chip on buffer board goes out - causes horizontal line ??Last edited by capkid; 08-08-2013, 09:03 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: Toshiba 50HP66 Plasma No Picture Flickering
His/her last post was over a year ago. I can't make out the "curtain bar" in the video, but it was most likely due to a bad buffer board if it was a vertical bar. Bad Y-Sus IPM and bad Y-buffer.Last edited by capkid; 08-06-2013, 10:36 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: Toshiba 50HP66 Plasma No Picture Flickering
lplaza - did u ever find the fault ??? On your video - display is flashing but when screen comes on - has curtain bar on right side of screen. I'm thinking you have more than sustain IPM problem.Leave a comment:

Re: Toshiba 50HP66 Plasma No Picture Flickering
Picture issues are common with these TVs; I've worked on a few of these 50" Toshibas. Replacing the IPMs and any blown fuses usually corrects the issue. However, a thorough diagnosis is advised before spending money on parts. These IPMs run about $40 each, and it's recommended that all four be changed at the same time (two on the Y-Sus and two on the Z-Sus). Some people do just change out the IPMs on the problem board only.Last edited by capkid; 07-27-2013, 05:20 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: Toshiba 50HP66 Plasma No Picture Flickering
I have this tv and it was just confirmed the screen is what went out. I have a tv full if good parts available to anyone in need since the screen is too expensive/impossible to fix.Leave a comment:

Re: Toshiba 50HP66 Plasma No Picture Flickering
A flashing on the display (usually accompanied with a quiet yet prompt "ticking" coming from the YSUS) is a very reliable indication for a failed ER IPM on the YSUS board.
I do NOT recommend replacing only the YSUS for reasons I have explained at length in several articles , including at our blog http://blog.coppelltvrepair.com.
You can actually get some additional details about this failure here:

And also:

Hope this helps.Leave a comment:

Re: Toshiba 50HP66 Plasma No Picture Flickering
Probably the Y-sus SUS-IPM or ER-IPM. They are about $30 each but require a good soldering iron to replace.Leave a comment:

Re: Toshiba 50HP66 Plasma No Picture Flickering
I am having the exact same problem with my tv. Did any of you find out what the fix was before I buy a new TV. I really like the picture and decent sound from this TV it lasted around 6 years would like to get more years if possible. Thank you.Leave a comment:
